My tour with SF were all out of Kontum at FOB II. Alpha and Bravo missions were the names in 1968. Alpha into Laos Bravo into Cambodia. We had the high tech McQuire Rigs. Instead of ammo boxes we had a piece of I bean that was pointed at the one end by a cutting torch. It actually worked pretty good. I did have two lines get tangled up during one extraction. Had to sit on the skid to straighten the mess out. That ladder for as many times as we loaded it into the ship I only used it once, and when we got the guys in the ship we dumped it rather then sit there and pull the damn thing up. Lots of bad guys were shooting at us that day. I loved the steak frys on Sat. night at FOB II. We also had some good football games in the compound while we were killing time. Using Bell Helicopters as side line marks was different but then again almost everything in Nam was different.
