We would spent time on the runway at old Dak To while waiting to jump the fence. We never spent any time at the camp there. Most of the forces there were not American. The ones which had been there moved to Ben Het and Dak Pec. That place was a trip. About 6500 ft above sea level. It was like the palance in the "Temple Of Doom"

Pulled some assaults there during Operation Mathews with the 101st ABN.in May 0f 1968. Crossing the border up there meant 37mm and quad fifties. Hotel 9 was a nice spot. I think every gook that passed through Laos stopped there. I think the worst part of going in there was by the time you extracted a team we were always running low on fuel. I think that 20 minute fuel warning light was always on by the time we got out of there.
