Greeting Lois, I was with Eddie the night before. we sat on my bunk as I was making a tape recording to send home to my folks and like most young men we got silly and talk on the tape about want we was going to do and about silly stuff. Eddie left that night to go to the swamp to clean his m-60 for the next day.I was in Maint. at that time and was one who worked on 297. the next morning I was down at preflight with them in case of last min. maint.I got to see 297 for the last time. I will remember Billy Joe, Eddie, Marty and Mr. Storie as the true heros they are..
