Power blipped a couple of times mid-evening last night, Tom- but came back okay until about 0230,
right when the eye was expected to be closest to us.. stayed off for almost 3 hours. No one in this house noticed- we were all too tuckered out from the preparations...

We were very lucky compared to a lot of our neighbors.. we had no trees down, and got power back before daylight. Coffee this a.m. was right on time...

My daughter, grandson and son-in-law stayed with us, because they HAD a lot of tall trees close to the house, and no basement. Well, this morning we cleared up what was left of their trees, brought the contents of their fridge here, and then went to another family member's place (my son-in-law's brother-in-law's) (almost sounds like West Virginia, huh?) and cleared a huge oak which JUST missed his house.

Then, he let me ride his 14 HP racing mini, or "pocket bike.... what a HOOT!! most of them have only about 5 to 7 HP, and this one goes from zero to max, about 50, just like THAT..... and with your butt onl;y 8 inches off the ground, sitting like a frog. Crazy!

We got home and found this afternoon that our water was off.... it's just now coming back, after 2230 Eastern.

Depending on your news source, there are between 17 and 25 who lost their lives over six states-
3 or four drownings- not flood related- one out of a canoe, two snagged by surf, and one swimming ??!??.

Several died due to falling trees, on cars and houses, and in weather-related traffic accidents.

I heard a report last night on the scanner of people windsurfing in the Potomac. Sounds to me like someone should have blown the whistle and hollered: YOU- OUTTA THE GENE POOL!!!
