Since Sir Lump of Lumpkin started the history lesson so eloquently, I will continue it, somewhat. Has history and our forefathers had it, the House of Reps was set up for you and me, the average Joe Blow Citizen, and the Senate was set up for the wealthy landowners, bankers, etc. This established a system of checks and balances between the classes so that neither could overun or rule the other. It was a great system and worked extremely well. During the same time period, both classes of citizens put their lives on the line to create and later defend our country and our freedom. They never intended the congress to be comprised of a bunch of lawyers that would become professional politicians. Today, both houses of congress are wealthy! We are no longer represented in congress! Even your congressman may not have equal rights in congress because the professional
politicians established a seniority system, which
the founding fathers never intended, and the rich
politician never put their lives on the line in defense of our country or our freedom. They send
us instead. The only system of checks and balances that remains is when we have a president
from a different party than that which controls the congress. To top it all off, the Supreme Court seems to no longer consider itself a part of the Judicial Branch, but wants to be the Legislative Branch. As Sir Winston Churchill so eloquently said,"Never! Never! Never! Give up!"; I say NEVER! NEVER! NEVER! Vote for an encumbent!
