The first time I saw the Green Hornets was at Kham duc way north of Dak Pec. They had the F model huey with the side shooting engine. It was early in 1967 and they had base defense guns on their helicopters for defense. i mean 30 cal. Browning Aircooled maching guns and BARs in the doors. It seems they were not supposed to arm helicopters or some such nonsense. That did not last long. Anyway after a couple of missions they were gone for a while and I saw them back at Camp Holloway some days later. They were armed with door mounted mini-guns. Talk about penis envy.
The former commander of the King Bees from our time at Pleiku lived in Dallas and I got to know him a bit from some Vietnamese weddings and parties. He impressed me as being someone that could have been counted on in a crunch. his Name was Duc. A hard core troop.
