Garfish as big as 300 pounds have been caught in Texas. And as the story goes, a mouth hooked gar is as " Mean as a wounded bear". If one gets in the boat alive, just shoot him or yourself because, by golly, ONE OF YOU IS GONNA NEED RELIEF! Personally when I catch one I cut the line and let him go, but some fools consider it a sport right up there with marlin fishing.
