I have given chains to the 119th folks and mostly to the guys in back. A couple of the to pilots as a reward for their efforts on behalf of the 119th reunions and for helping our buddies. I carry a key chain made of the end piece and I do so with pride. The original reason for wearing them was long gone by 1967 and guys were taking chains to make bracelets "because they were worn" (At less than 500 hours? BS -))and I had to put out the word that TR chains were hard to come by and if saw one that was not from a wreck or a change that I and the TI had approved, I'd burn their butt. Hard way to do business but necessary to keep from having a bird not flyable due to lack of spares. I say if you were a cook in the 119th and it was in my power, i'd give you a chain, but due to scaricity I have tried to make sure they went to the crewmen. An exception is the extra I gave to Rex to make julie a bracelt and I think willie had a spare length for a bracelet. not sure if he does now. It was originally to make one for Tom but Tom said he had one. SOOOOOO I think wille may have a spare 8 inch chain. not sure.
