Letters Home

Flight,

Quite a bit of time has passed since I started this and I wanted to get through it before the new year so here we go.

Dear Lorraine,

Hi! Honey. How are things with you? I got two letters from you today and that is a good thing since it’s been kind of rough here. I’m sorry I haven’t written much lately I hope you understand. I need to write my parents also to let them know all is well.

We got back from the field yesterday and if we are lucky we just might get a day off. I know most of us need it after a month at Dakto with the SF guys. Last night we had a small gathering and got wasted, the Hooch is a mess. The maid is gonna have a fit when she sees it. Went in the chow hall for breakfast looked at the powdered eggs and SOS got a cup of coffee and went back to the hooch for a can of C’s.

Sounds as if school is getting the better of you. I know you have exams coming up and need to spend time studying so if you don’t write for a few days it’s OK with me. You can catch up during summer break. Have you decided what you are going to do this summer? I think you should relax and get ready for October when I get home. I’m not sure when but it should be around the end of the month.

Things here are going to be lousy for the next three months. The monsoon season is just beginning and flying will be tough. The mountains get closed in with clouds and fog and we can’t always complete missions and some times take-off is delayed till it clears. It doesn’t rain all day so we can usually get some time in before night. I have to go now, my ship is over at the hanger getting checked for a vibration we picked up on the flight back from Dakto. I want to be their when it gets checked and go on the test flight.

I will try to write again soon.

Love Tom
