Bob,

Most all the CE's I knew considered their ship as God. It was going to bring you home safe as long as you cared for it. 851 was a very tired Bird and I know Dobbs did a good job getting us in and out of many difficult LZ's and Hover Holes. I used to watch the torque meter and RPM out of the corner of my eye along with keeping the blades clear, watching for Charlie, listening for strange sounds from the engine or airframe, loading or unloading cargo or grunts, talking on the intercom. Not sure how we processed that much through our minds all at the same time. I'm sure you guys up front had a lot more going through yours.
