Dear Lorraine,

Hi Honey! How are you? I really feel good today my ship is in for inspection and I have some time to write before I go over to the Hanger to check things out. I lucked out last night and did not get Guard Duty, I’m also not scheduled for tonight and if things go well my ship will be done today and I can get back to flying.

I haven’t had a letter from you in a few days but that’s OK. I know you will catch up when you can. If you get a chance how about sending me a picture of your roommates so I will at least know what they look like. How are things at school and how do you like living off campus? I’m sure the lack of rules is a good thing. When I get home it will be nice to know that you don’t have to be in by a certain time and I don’t have to leave by 9:00 pm.

I really don’t have much to say right now and I am sure my letters get kind of boring and repetitious. I’d make this a 20-page essay on how much I love you but it still would not come close to saying how I feel. Last night I had a great dream about you but I won’t go into any of the details. Lets just say that we were very bad and enjoyed it very much. Rumor has it that dreams come true.

Enough of that, I’m going over to the Hanger now. I’ll try to finish later.

Hi Hon! I didn’t get a chance to finish this yesterday so I’ll try to get it done now. It’s a little foggy out so flights are on hold for now. We had another party last night, no special reason but then we don’t need a reason to party. Just being here is reason enough. Some of the Pilots stopped by which is unusual since they are not supposed to hang out with the enlisted guys. In a way it’s a good thing flights are delayed, most of us are a little foggy too.

Today’s missions are supposed to be in support of the 4th Infantry Division they have a large base on the other side of Pleiku. We will be providing a lot of support for them over the next few months. We have been told that we should expect a lot of activity to our west. I wish we knew if was going to be enemy or just supporting the guys in the field. Somehow I think it’s going to be Charlie. Maybe I will be lucky and get out of here before it gets rough. We have been re-supplying several artillery field positions out west near the border and dropping in recon patrols on a regular basis. This usually means they have found signs that the enemy is moving out there. So much for what’s going on with the War.

How are things with you? The next time you are home for a weekend would you stop in to see my parents? In the last letter I got from my mother she said she has not seen you for a while. I know it makes her feel good to see you and talk. I don’t think she can talk about the same things with my dad. If all goes according to our plan she will be your mother-in-law some day soon. I think I’m getting a little ahead of things, first I have to get out of this place.

The thought just crossed my mind that soon I will be able to have real food again. I am really getting tired of C-Rats. I still haven’t had a decent meal in the chow hall but I have still gained some weight. The only reason I know is because my waist size went up to 32”. Looks like it’s clearing up so I guess we will start missions soon. I will finish later. I know that is what I said yesterday.

Love
