I think we may have been Lead on that one, Ron. I remember one where a ridgeline on my side lit up everywhere from about 9 o'clock to maybe 11 o'clock. We were on final and I didn't even bother to talk, just opened up and we bolted. I remember on our second or third attempt, I knew the same thing was going to happen, so I just pulled the pins on a couple of smokes, handed them to the grunts on my side and told them to let them go when I opened up. One more reason no grunt will ever argue with the term "lunatic," I bet.

Only time, other than Ben Het, where the muzzle flashes were about even with our level, or even above.
