April 12, 1967

Dear Lorraine,

Hi! Honey, How are you. I’m on my third day here at Dak To. We had a mission today and put an A-Team in out west. We a working with the Special Forces Team A-244. These guys are great to talk to but they have to be nuts. We took off this morning with 5 of them on board and headed west from here. We had two of our Gun ships and an empty slick along for support. It took us about 40 minutes to get to the drop off point and then we headed back to Dak To. I spent the rest of the day working on the ship and just goofing off. We are supposed to put another Team out tomorrow. This is one dark place at night there are no lights at night except in the tents. I’m on Flare Stand-by tonight so I have the ship loaded with Flares. If anything happens we will be up dropping around the compound.

The weather here has been hot and dry today so I’ve been working on my suntan. I don’t really have much else to tell you so I’ll just say that I miss you and wish I were home. We haven’t had any mail since we got here but one of the ships is supposed to fly back to Holloway tomorrow and pick up mail and take our laundry back. Sure hope I get a few letters.
