UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE

"Yesterday, I forwarded information from Area Postal Officials that all delivery's both internal and external

were to be at a heightened risk. Our Postal Inspectors have researched the information and reported that

this incident was "A HOAX."

While this turned out to be a hoax, the matter of security is not. It is not bad that we have all been

reminded to monitor the people and items coming into our facilities, by all couriers including the USPS.

The Business Service Network is dedicated to providing you the most current information affecting your

mailing operations. We are happy to reported that this was a hoax, but we also remind you that we

must all be vigilant and on the alert for threats to our security.

Again the following information below was determined by our Postal

Inspectors to be a hoax:

At present, we have no way of confirming the following information,

but always ask for proper identification if you do not know the courier.

THIS PRACTICE SHOULD ALSO APPLY FOR A USPS LETTER CARRIER THAT YOU DO NOT

KNOW

$32,000 worth of UPS (BROWN UNIFORMS) has been purchased over the last 30

days of person(s) unknown on eBay. Law enforcement is working the case

however no suspect(s) have been identified. Subjects may try to gain

facility access by wearing these uniforms. If anyone has suspicions about

a UPS delivery (i.e. no truck, but driver, no UPS identification, etc),

contact UPS to verify employment. The New Jersey office of Counter -

Terrorism reported an attempt by an unknown individual to enter a

government facility by falsely posing as an employee of the United Parcel

Service. Based on this incident, security personnel should exercise

heightened vigilance when screening all delivery personnel, at the entrance

of all buildings and when accepting deliveries. Such measures should

include careful inspection of credentials and identification of all

delivery personnel to ensure that they are who they purport to be.

Thank you,
