I remember being sent over near LZ Oasis at least three times on reports of enemy aircraft. I think there was an air traffic control unit there with a GCA that at times could pick them up. It was always just before dark or during the night. Never did see any but I did have an M-79 which I thought may do the trick if we ever got close enough to them. As far as dropping the peter-pilot threw the main rotor blades while still strapped in his seat was not a good idea. Do you know how hard it would have been to get a new seat?
