CT VFW Cobra

There's a lowboy on the road from Ft Drum NY with a Vietnam Vet AH-1 Cobra gunship aboard, escorted all the way by various Harley clubs and State Troopers from NY, MA, and CT. The ship will be arriving at the East Hampton VFW at about 6pm tonite, to be put on permanent static display.

Ship was with B Troop, 1st of the 9th Cav from 68 until it crashed in 1970. The same outfit that Frank "Mickey" Maher, who died last year, flew with until he ended up under a burning Loach in the A Shau valley. Mickey's name is engraved on a brick in the Garden of Honor to be built around the display.

One of Post members was also in B/1/9 when the ship was, and they have located one of the pilots who flew that actual ship to speak at the dedication in September.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Good stuff.
