The leather cord is available at most Craft stores. It is larger than thread but smaller than a shoe lace. My Wife tied it on using a simple square knot. I got the idea from the infamous OJ who is an expert on the effects of moisture on leather. When it gets wet from showering the knot shrinks and becomes tighter.
