Caroline,

Having working outside for many years in all kinds of weather I always had the best results with snow skiers goggles. The amber color always seemed the best. They reduce glare and provide great UV protection. The darker shades sometimes limit vision.

The best things things for care packages are things which are good either hot or cold. Ritz crackers and cheese whiz, cookie which don't melt like oreo are some type of sugar cookie. As far as can goods go I don't know what kind of fuel the guys have for cooking. We used JP-4 and C-4 in our home made stoves. Pork and beans taste good hot or cold. I hate to say it but spam is also a good one. I ate tons of it when I was overseas, won't touch it now with a ten foot pole. Another good thing to include is like the baby wipes. The grit on your hands and face is nice to get off and sometimes you don't have enough water for personal clean up. Pre-sweetened Kool-aid is a God sent. The best thing I enjoyed was hard candy. Life savers and root beer barrels. I hope this will help.
