Re: Texas Warned It May Be A Target for Terrorism

You are right, Bob, and it is obvious. I offered my help and was ignored or refused. Seems to me that someone with experience in dodging bullets and fighting terrorism would be invaluable at a time like this. The locals do not think so, though. We have numerous veterans skilled, trained, and experienced in what needs to be done and that resource is being waisted.

Vietnam was an insurgency much like we have at this time here in the U.S. but with the difference of armed troops conducting military operations. The civilians see any activity here as following that same pattern. It will not due to what is being discussed on the board now. The Second Ammendment precludes that. Invasion of armed troops would be squashed immediatly by citizens protecting life and property.

SOFT targets does not, necessarly, equate with un-armed targets. They are un-prepaired targets. The state of Texas is so un-prepaired that it is definatly a SOFT target. The civilians don't even know how to identify the critical nodes which need to be defended, let alone how to properly prepaire their defense.

Look at how Charles carefully studied us (from within if he could). Examining and observing constantly. When HE was ready, and things were in his favor he acted, but not until everything possible was in his favor.

From the MAC to the -16 and the ammo to supply both through a major skirmish I have more fire-power than the local law enforcement. I have my military issued MREs and M-17 mask, UNWASHED BDUs (washing them removes the IR protection, remember?)so I am ready there also. I have also done extensive IPB of the AO and know escape routes and defensiveable positions if that is necessary. That, as I said, is not what I expect, however. It is just habit.

All of us know what to do and how to do it. It is a shame the civilians in charge of our defense here in the homeland have to make the mistakes we learned about and get people killed before they wise up. Reminds me too much of Vietnam. Incompetant leadership, not listening to the troops with experience. Planning missions ending in disasterous results due to not listening to experience.

You all have touched on a sensitive issue with me. Makes me feel like I was back there with an officer who told me to "take that clip out of that gun" referring to the mag in my -16, just after I returned from a tour of the local area under direct fire from "person or persons unknown who were attempting to use deadly fource" on me. Even the language is different from military action to law enforcement action. Take the cops out of the equation and put the military in.
