I was in gator 573 that day, Gator 137 was taken out by a tree top, My pilot Mr Pruitt was on r&r in Hawaii and Ski was my pilot, we was on a drop off mission to the LZ that I think we called stove pipe, as we had to go down about 75 to 100 feet down to the bottom, through trees, we made it down and got almost to the top and we had a blade strike, (bad one) we managed to get to a firebase, set down and look over 137, all looked good, we saw a few wrinkles but thought we could fly back to Holloway so we took off not wanting to stay in the jungle at night. we got just north of pleiku and we got some bad vibs. so we set down and called for a ride to Holloway the next day they brought 137 in on a sling load, don't know of any pictures of the sling in, I asked around but nobody had one of the day.I do have a picture of the blade, you can see a hole through it. we found out that 137 had major damage to the transmission mounts had to be taken for major structure repair, never saw her again, I was put in gator 540 for a few days until I got gator 573, this took place in Feb 69, eveybody that flew her said she was a strong ship, didn't bleed off much power under a loadsorry for not telling you this sooner I'm still looking for a good Picture of 137 so far the only one I have is from a distant... and the one in the album of me standing by the door and you can see the CC radio and John Morrison on the other side...
