In 1969 and 70 there were 17 pounders that really shook the valley. I never shot them in Nam because Maint. weenies were not allowed to play with the big toys, But back home on Gunnery tests I fired about everything at one time or another. Then I was the responsible design engineer for the development of the rocket management system in the cobras during 1977 and 78 as a civilian engineer. Now THAT was a rocket system. you could set the fuzing distance and they replaced the old motor with a hot new one, and the folding fins with a wrap around fin. The motor burned out at a consistant rate and the damned things stayed true to the course. Even I could hit a target.
