at least one of OUR VIPs was visited today by Assistant Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz.

Paul told me that the Secretary visited with him for about fifteen minutes, and proceeded to tell him about a firefight around Mosul on 4 August
(the very same one in which Paul and Damon were
wounded).... brings me to think, how do you tell someone like that- "been there, done that, Sir..."

Mr. W. coined Paul, and presented Paul an autographed book, and baseball cap and ball for Matthew.

Paul's doing fantastically well... he had to tell me "Lumpy, did you know I stood up today?"...
I already knew, but I let him tell me all about it... he made my day all over again. It was great coming from his Dad, and again from Paul.

Stacie told me that two Generals engaged her in conversation while Paul was with the Secretary, and she ended up high-fiving with one, who is also a graduate of Auburn U., Stacie's
school.... and Stacie was very pleased with their interest in the family.

What a day. Paul told me that his coin is likely still in his BDU left breast pocket, with his ID card, and that in his right pocket, there is a silver angel sent him by the young daughter of one of the guys Paul helped out of a submerged Stryker last year.....mebbe I'll just do a little snooping this weekend... I know how an Army Hospital Baggage Room works....

I'll check with Paul and see if he's ready for some more phone calls- with his OK, I'll BC any and all with his room phone number.

Let's see now if I can check on the Looey.
