Today I resigned from the Museum board in response to a letter from the legal side of the Musem.

Read below how I responded.

While I can defend the right of any American to hold and support any political view he feels comfortable with, I will not remain silent during this election season while Kerry runs for office. It has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican. It has to do with the fact that I despise the bastard for what he did in the early 70's when he smeared all of us with the brush of war criminal, and his actions since then in his efforts to disarm America. I will not remain silent on this issue.
Therefore, it is with deep regret that I resign from the board of National Vietnam War museum effectively immediately. I will continue to support the museum with donations and continue to sell Aluminum castings on behalf of the museum... if that is permitted.

Hi Folks,

Just thought that since the political crazy season is upon us again that a word of caution might be in order. We are now being treated to the spectacle of veterans being pitted against one another and questioning the patriotism, veracity and the worth of the military actions and decorations of those they disagree with. The Museum must avoid the appearance of involvement in this partisan fight to protect its 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status, and to protect its reputation as an impartial institution that can "build understanding".

Their are many points of view concerning the Vietnam War. If the Museum is to "build understanding" it must afford honor and understanding to all, even those we disagree with. As individuals we have our opinions and roles in the political process. However, if we allow the Museum to be used by any faction we risk the success of the museum.

I am confident that we will not allow this to happen. Thanks for listening. This is just something I needed to get off my chest.
