Thanks, Huey. The VA has approved him for home care. I've had to go and cause a stir over there because they kept telling my dad that they had done everything and were just waiting to hear from the company they contract with about when they would send somebody. When I went and spoke with the "chief," I found out that it hadn't even been submitted for authorization from the VA yet. That social worker had been lying to my dad for weeks. Boy did they hear about that one.

The "chief" then walked it down herself for authorization and submitted it to the contractor. The only hitch now is the contractor says they can't employ family members, and my dad's sister-in-law does this for a living and he wants her to do it. So, yesterday I was back at the VA and complained again. This chief lady says she will get it approved Monday so that my dad's sister-in-law can go to the orientation Tuesday so she can start on Wednesday. Whew! How's that for bureaucracy?

I'll be over there Monday taking my dad to chemo, so I will pester her again to make sure it gets done. They've approved him for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. That should help a lot.
