Re: CAROLINE UPDATE
In Response To: CAROLINE UPDATE ()

Well IF she is using the 119th cookbook, She is eating some fine chow. It was designed to provide detailed instructions for primative cooking (Dutch Ovens, Skillets and grills). When all this is over I'd like a review of the items she cooked and what folks said about the dishes, Also a few words about how the instructions helped and what could be done to improve it.
As for the Possum Stew, there aint one, BUT if she looks, she will find one for Squirrel and dumplings. My grannies recipe from the hills of Southwest Virginia. In the update I intend to publish the family recipe for making corn liquor. I got it from my uncle (mom's brother) back in 1966 and just found the notes a few days ago.
Glad to help folks in a disaster.
For those of you who visited my hootch in Nam you will recall I seldom ate in the mess hall. I traded helicopter rides and favors for my food and cooked it myself. I used the 545th freezer that was there to sweat fit parts as a storage area. And on more than one occasion I provided a few cases of steaks and stuff for a unit cook out. A member of the supply unit across post was a homeboy and he'd deliver quality food from the 4th Division generals mess, for my use, in exchange for helicopter rides for his buds.
