Before I retired I was in the back-up power business AC & DC. Engineerd everything from Computer Network power systems to Telephone CO battery backup systems. You hit the nail on the head with wireing in a transfer switch and isolating the power grid. Right now I can handle about 30 amps of load the plan is to step up to about 50-75 with one 240 leg for the well pump and the rest 120vac. I can do all the wireing and then have it inspected to avoid any insurance issues.
