The time frame of the film is about June-Oct. 1968. It shows the old company area which was near the "Hot Spot" and the PX. It shows part of the perimeter. You can see the low clouds in the northwest which tells me it was during the monsoon season. It also shows the "Hot Spot", the maintenance hangars, the "Swamp". the area where the 179th's CH-47s were parked. There is also footage of down town Pleiku. The garden spot of Southeast Asia. There is also footage taken at Da Nhang showing the different aircraft that flew of of that base. The beach that was filmed I think must be China Beach. Most of us that went on R&R had to go through Da Nhang during 1968. It also has pictures of Dak To, Ben Het, and the area around that area. It shows one firebase which I believe was FSB 29. The end of the film must of been taken while Billie was on R&R.

The beginning of the film has shots of Lt. Nilius(call-sign "Penis")and a red-headed WO-1 whose name was McDonald or O'Donald or Donally or something like that. I will have to watch the film again to put some names to the faces. I know who they are but thirty-five years has clouded my memory.

Those of us who knew Billie would guess this was the type of movies he would take to show his family where he was and some of the things he saw. If you were stationed at Holloway or flew in the areas that we did much of the film will be very familiar to you. You need to watch it a couple of times because you will miss somethings during the first viewing.

Somebody did a lot of work to put it together along with a lot of love. It was hard for me to watch the first time. We need to thank Judi and her family for sharing it with us.
