but... my father-in-law was awarded the PH in February 2003 for a bullet wound received at Omaha Beach on 6 Jun 44. He died in March 2003.
Maybe THAT has something to do with it..
In any case, there is NO excuse for the system not to award appropriately, in a timely fashion--
and I was first aware of my 'Nam tour ARCOM in April, 1985. I'm told that was Standard Fare if no other decorations were recieved, and one was a reasonably good soldier, or at least didn't get caught being otherwise.
Once I'd earned my second ARCOM, I couldn't get past that type award... put in once for a LofM, it was downgraded to the ARCOM, and my Boss got the LofM. Oh, well... he deserved it (and so did I...)
