nice social tour of Pleiku, Ron!

in all of '70, "Sin City" was just your average
brightly-painted group of hovels, except maybe for the Enari guys, for whom it was likely most accessible. Its reputation was legend in '70, though.

For all my tour, Jan-Dec 70, Pleiku City was officially "off limits", except for passin' thru, unless on official bidness, such as picking up the day labor, and dropping them off at about 2300 (max-pucker-factor mission, if unlucky enough to have duty driver or CQ at HHC), and quick (DAYLIGHT) stops in town for ice and charcoal for the rare big B-B-Q. Stop. Get it. Get gone.

I do know, though, that a whole lotta guys talked freely of slipping out thru the wire, visiting the ville, and returning, but I never saw it myself.

If most on the bunkerline were as trigger-happy as your humble servant, doing such was very risky.

Wow- weed-burning in the greenline musta caused had a bit of pucker-factor, with all the claymores and tripflares... seems they went off sorta regularly withOUT all the extra heat... sure would get your attention...concussion-wise,
a CLOSE claymore is like having a heavy door slammed in your face...I dunno much bout the ball-bearings, except they're mucho and fasto...and I don't KNOW if there were other mines there in '70, but the standard triangle "MINES" signs certainly were present. woooooh.
