I have Pics of Army Aircraft as late as 1970 with the Red white Red tips (about 2 inch wide stripes) and I have pics of Navy and Marine aircraft as early as 1965 with Yellow tips.
But Tom, when you and I were there I believe our birds had the red white red tips
