Re: Remembering All of Our Brothers and their Fami

"..here's to our brothers and the other young men on board..."

not forgotten, Diedra, just took a while to find the information. Referring to the 1970 page in Mark Herring's 119th site, the memories flood back to me. I remember hearing that night or the next day that one of our slicks was shot down, and that the crew plus 14 Grunts were lost. It seemed implausible to me that 18 Westerners would have been aboard, so I figured it was 14 "little people"... as it turned out, the "14" was 14th Infantry, and a web search yesterday turned up these names. The Remembrances posted are from www.thevirtualwall.org

from B Co, 1/14th Inf, 3d Bde, 4th ID

ROBERT MARTIN GOSELIN, Sergeant, US Army, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Born 9/10/1948,
is honored on Panel 9W, Row 13 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

no remembrances yet left at the Virtual Wall....

ROBERT HARDY HILL, JR., Private first Class,
US Army, of Grand Rapids, Michigan,
Born 11/21/1946, is honored on Panel 9W, Row 14 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

one remembrance is posted, by Jamie, a high school student who very eloquently thanks Robert for his selfless service.

STEVEN RUSSELL STEFANSKI, Sergeant, US Army, , of San Diego, California, Born 3/7/1949, is honored on Panel 9W, Row 17 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Steven is remembered by a niece:

We love and think about you all the time. I can see how your life has impacted my family. Thank you for your sacrifice for country. You will remain in our prayers and hearts forever.

DENNIS WILLIAM DOTSON, First Lieutenant, US Army, of El Centro, California, Born 11/2/1949,
is honored on Panel 9W, Row 13 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

Hey Dennis, it's been a long time. I will remember you forever.
You would be proud what the Vietnam Veterans have accomplished.
I love you, brother.
Aloha,
Tommie

I don't know how to find the "official" record on the event, but Grubfish's 5 Jun 70 extract from the unit history relates that Gator 354's Gunner, PFC Comes, was the only survivor of the crash, and that he was rescued by WO Olive; WO Kelly, SP4 Almon, and SP4 Bottom assisted, and attempts
to save others were unsuccessful.
