Ben, I remember it well. It all started april 15 for us. 170th AHC tried to assualt the LZ NW of the camp with Viets and a couple of US advisors. NVA let the first ship in and shot the second one down. Killed everyone on board but the crew chief and pilot. Pilot was captured and was POW. Crew chief got out but was hurt real bad. The next two days were pure hell tryin to get supplies in. The two Air Force crash sites you refered to were two Jolly Greens shot down April 17 tryin to get wounded out. WE showed up on station about 11:00 AM on April 18. Your call sign was Krumpet Kilo . Mine was CROC 6. We were shot down by a Russian 51, hit with a ricky and Boo Coo A.K. Our crash site was in the field close to the camp. We hauled ass to the tree line and started a gun fight there. By the grace of God and one crazy ass gun pilot, Peter Daly I can tell you this story today. I guess the point I'm tryin to make here is if you want to fight us you got to fight all of us.
