Re: Response
In Response To: Response ()

Lynn, in my opinion, good email. This should have been the first one posted in place of that disgraceful, disrespectful poem. This goes a lot farther in getting your opinion across.

: What got me going was
: the "execute the journalists"
: statement, what next, book burning? I do try
: not to judge anyone as a group, no matter what
: their leanings, but I do abhor
: radicals, whether left, right, Christian,
: Muslin, black or white.

RESPONSE - No book burnings here. Books are written and put on the shelf for readers to pick and choose from. Journalists are used to convey what is happening now. They report news and events that people should know about immediately in order to make timely decisions on things important to our communities. They have a responsibility to be impartial. Many many many times they are not and they use their positions to spew their liberal crap. Now I am sure the "execute journalists" statement was a figure of speech, but I'm behind it if it ever comes to fruition... There are some of course who will be saved.

: Well hell, guess I will go on.
: I do not hate GW, I think he has made some
: terrible mistakes.

: 1. The war in Iraq.

: a. The reason, WMD's, was not substantiated by
: anyone's intelligence.

RESPONSE - So what. My opinion is that this was just an excuse to get in there and get Saddam out. Getting in there was the more important part and I think we will more fully realize this in the years to come.

: b. Iraq's connection with 9/11 was non existent
: other than it being

: a Muslim country.

: c. Yes, Sadam should/could have been snuffed
: along with all of his comrades although his brutality was probably
: the only thing keeping

: quagmire together.

: d. The perpetrator of 9/11 is still at large.

RESPONSE - True, but catching him is largely symbolic. Through the actions we have taken and the people we have detained as a result of all of this, we now have intelligence that is useful and will help to protect this country for years to come. We would not have even a fraction of this without the war in Iraq. Again, there are a lot more pieces to this puzzle than WMD's and whether or not the Government did a good job at convincing you we should be there.

: e. There have been more terrorists created by
: our policies, namely thewar

: in Iraq, than would have happened under any
: other scenario that I can

: think of. The possibility of an operating
: democracy in that part of

: is slim to none, they don't think like us.

RESPONSE - I disagree. A terrorist is a terrorist whether he picks up a gun today or he does it tomorrow. We did not "make more", they were already there waiting for an excuse. The war in Iraq has pinpointed a lot of these groups and the people responsible for them, now we have a much better idea of the target.

I think Democracy in Iraq is a secondary goal, not on the surface of course. Again, what we want is to have a presence there. Bases for our military to operate from. This is a big piece of the chess game in the middle east. It will pay off.

: No, I do and have not ever supported the war in
: Iraq or our governments reason
: for starting it. I do however support our
: troops and would willingly kill,
: again dammit, and put myself at risk, to keep
: one more of them from being
: killed or wounded.

RESPONSE - If you don't support the war, you will negatively impact the troops, period. You can't do one and not the other. The minute you make the war in Iraq a political issue, by not supporting it, someone, somewhere will stop spending money, providing supplies, ammo etc. There will be an official somewhere that will decide to change their decision to fund Iraq because it will help them get re-elected. Someone WILL DIE because of it. This country is at war, support it until it is over and it isn't over until WE HAVE WON.

: 2. Hurricane response.

: a. Yes, it was a failure at ALL levels of
: government. But why was such

: an inept, unqualified, and incompetent person
: in charge of FEMA?

: Politics verging on corruptness.

: b. No, Bush did not create the hurricane, but
: it has been foreseen for

: years. The response was verging on criminal in
: my opinion, a lot

: passing the buck and bureaucratic finger
: pointing. About 5 each,

: equivalents of Yellow & Blue flights could
: have been on scene as

: soon as the wind slowed and started rescue
: efforts as well as

: hauled shitters, water and basic food to and
: removed people,shit,

: etc. from the Super Dome and Convention Center
: immediately instead

: of 4 or 5 days later. Thats a long time to get
: your act together.

: c. No, I cannot truly say that anyone could
: have done it better, but

: the way it was done was a disgrace and heads
: should roll. (figure

: of speech)

RESPONSE - Yup, it needs to be fixed. No question. We need to start at the lowest local level, because that is where the planning and coordination starts and that is where the most lives can be saved.

: Anyway, thanks again for the e, I'll try to
: copy this to the webb site, if it
: dosen't go, please feel free to forward it on.
: In no way will our perceived
: differences in political leaning lessen the
: high regard that I hold for each and every
: one of you that fought and died while
: serving with the 119th AHC.

: Oh and by the way, no, I did not research the
: writer of that poem, and it was even a bit
: strong for my taste, I did think it had some
: valid points that should not be swept under
: the rug. If I don't respond immediately, it
: is because I still must work to make ends
: meet but I will not make "hit and
: runs", that only works well in war.

RESPONSE - For someone who doesn't like to lean too far either way, that poem was way over to one side !

RESPONSE - Glad you posted this Lynn. Nothing personal here, just opinions being discussed.
