Re: Back-to-back

Bob, the idea of two Huey crewmen in the doors of their lone helicopter in an LZ, willing to die if necessary to protect their ship and their buddies, wide open and standing back-to-back, with M-60s working out on bad guys all around, has intrigued me since I experienced it.

It was the ultimate stand-up, take your best shot, duke 'em out fistfight-turned-gunfight, bare knuckles until somebody lost, somebody won, or somebody died. Sometimes all three at once. "Here I am, take your shot, see if you can hit me before I get you."

How you get people to do stuff like that and why anybody would voluntarily do it is a mystery to me. If I could figure it out, I'd start writing about it. I can't, so I won't.
