We're back from the Veterans Day happenings in DC, quite an experience. I have some great photos to post as soon as I get them re-sized.

We sat with a table of A/2/7 vets at the Ia Drang 40th Reunion dinner on Saturday night. The whole production was overwhelming.

The gentleman next to me, an A/2/7 vet named Duane Paulson, mentioned something about the sapper attack on Holloway on 7 Feb 65. I said to him that the 119th was the target of that attack; he said he knew that because the 119th was his first unit in Vietnam...

Turns out he was part of the 25th Infantry "SHOTGUN" program. He was TDY doorgunner in Feb, Mar, and Apr 1964, until wounded and sent back to Hawaii. A/2/7 was his second tour.

Great guy; I gave him my own coin.
