No one here needs to be told what the value of a soldiers life is. We are here on this site because of the value we place on it. I am sure that the people providing those statistics don't need to be told either.

The statistics make a good point. We pay a ton of attention to these deaths (notice I didn't say soldiers) when they are used in the context of supporting an argument to get out of Iraq. We pay little to no attention to death in any other situation, even when the deaths are of those same heroes. The people who throw that 2100 number out there don't give a flying crap about any of those soldiers lives. They care about the image that number creates. That is the point the statistics make. If these people really cared about "lives" they would be too busy to protest the war in Iraq. They would be busy with the tens of thousands of lives we literally throw away senselessly every single day in this country.

If anyone is doing these heroes a disservice Lynn, it's those who belittle the important things they accomplished while they were alive. Namely their mission in Iraq.

Let me ask you... How many homeless Vets, heroes, die every winter as a result of frigid temperatures ? Now tell me how many of these same heroes get invited to your home for Christmas dinner so they can live another day ? Maybe you have a whole house full at Christmas, I don't know. I'm willing to bet however that 99% of the people protesting the deaths from Iraq, pay absolutely no attention to soldiers and their families in any other situation. I am also sure that a good number of fellow vets who say these heroes deserve more, do nothing more than say it.

Here's what I think Lynn. If folks are truly concerned about the soldiers who are getting killed in Iraq. They should be out convincing those that are eligible to join up and cover their fellow Americans asses when it's needed. Not protesting their actions and ignoring their accomplishments.
