The troops and The President

Tonight I caught the story on the friends from the Night Hawk platoon talking to NBC about their service, friendship and return from Iraq as wounded Vets. How their service was the best years of their lives and how they have a hard time comparing it to anything here as a civilian (powerful stuff since a couple of these guys have severe physical injuries as well as PTSD). The host asked them what they would tell a kid that asked them today about joining the military, the answer they gave him was "we'd tell him to go see the recruiter !" (not what the host was hoping for I'm sure.

Then I watched President Bush deliver his best speech since he has taken office.

As I think about going to work tomorrow, I can't help but think about how f'n insignificant being a "civilian" is.

Man I miss it. I miss the camaraderie, the sense of purpose and I miss getting drunk with a bunch of guys that all agree who the enemy is !

For my wife and kids sake, I'm glad there's a few hours before the Army Recruiters office is open........ a few hours to remember how nasty that sand is when it's in every orifice a body has....

God bless this country, the President and all the soldiers in Iraq kicking bad guy ass ! Feel sorry for them ? I don't think so, they've got the best job a man can have.....
