Beginning in 1975 I helped Vietnamese who came to this country. They appreciated it and in the 1980s when they formed the very first vietnamese Airforce association with helicopter pilots I was there in a dinky garage in Arlington Texas.
When the formed the National Vietnamese Airforce Association I was one of four Non Vietnamese invited. On several occasions I have been invited speak at their functions and my name has made the papers in vietnam because of my activities with former south vetnames military folks.
When the national Association was formed I sat at the table with General Loan, (the Airborne commander who shot the NVA Lt. in the head), Loan had refused to sit with General ky and my buds asked if I would sit with loan. I said I'd be honored.

After they formed the association I was one of Two Caucasians at a buds Vietnamese wedding. We are still best friends today. When it came time to put helicopter 091 into the Smithsonian, I was the man who got the Vietnamese aviators involved.
I have many friends that are Vietnamese. They know I have no desire to go back because I despise the communist and what they did to the vietnamese people.
It is not hate for the vietnamese that keeps me from going. It is thatI despise communist. Whether they be Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese or American. they are enemies of freedom.
