I believe he was there from 1964 to early 65, just before the sapper attack. He went home on a compassionate leave. His father, my grandfather had had a heart attack. I do not know if he returned to Viet Nam afterwards or not. I remeber my grandmother commenting that if he hadn't come home, he might have gotten injured in that attack.
