Letters

Hi people,

A little while back, I posted a message hoping to hear from guys who served with my uncle in the 119th aviation company. His name was George Carmel, from Massachusetts. This pretty much started after his widow and family gave me a model of a UH-1B that he'd built shortly after comming home from Viet Nam. Any ways, I have also been reading the letter he sent to his mother from Viet Nam (and Ft. Rucker, Ft. Dix and after his tour from Ft. Benning). Mostly it's the "gee i miss home so much.." type stuff. He was there march 1964 through late Jan 1965. From what I have read this is very early (before the "war" was officialy recognized). He mentioned a fellow from his home town, Greg Palmarino...anyone know him? He mentions a Capt Crowe, head of the helicopter maitenance. And he goes on to describe how he went from mechanic to crew chief. To make a long story somewhat shorter, I was wondering if there would be any interest in me posting his letters on here for people to read. Maybe one a week or something. I am really hoping to get in touch with someone who served with him or in the 119th at that same time. here's what I know so far. George L. Carmel. Guys called him "woody". 119th Av Co. Crew chief on ship 66-22003 (in his letters, he referred to it as a 'skin ship' as opposed to a gunship). Arrived march 1964 sent home on compationate leave jan or feb 1965 RIGHT before the motar/sapper attack.

Feel free to respond to this post, or back channel replies to my email. Thanks for all your help..
