Letter 3-31-64

Dear Folks,

I was happy to receive your letter today. It's the first I've heard from you since I left Hawaii. I was especiallt glad to see that Dad finally got down to business and wrote. It really made me feel good to hear from him.

That coin I sent you was called a Döng. It's worth about 1.2˘. However, it is the largest denomination coin the Vietnamese have. Most all of their money is paper. Starting with a 10 piastre note and working up. The 50P notes and higher are especially interesting because there is a large whote spot on both sides of the bill, but when you hold it up to the light a picture of a man appears in the spot. When I get paid next month I'll try to send you some. But this month, I got a very small pay.

Today, I did two different jobs on the Huey. I learned how to track the main rotor blade and I learn how to replace the tail rotor blade. It's getting more interesting everyday. All the guys on the team and even the crew chiefs are very good teachers and are patient with my mstakes.

Have you gotten my bond yet? You didn't mention anything about it in your letter. You should have the one from February and the one for March should be on the way.

Mom, will you send me some copies of the prints of the picturs we took at Ft. Rucker and at Florida?

Last Sunday being Easter I went to communon with Greg. I didn't find an Easter basket under my bunk though. It sure didn't seem like Easter being so far from home. But since I'll be leaving here Feb. 22, 1965 I'll be home for next Easter.

Bye for now. Please writ again soon. Thank Mary very much for her much appreciated letter.

Love
George
