A couple of years ago when I was a boy growing up on the farm in ND, a pair of Bald Eagles nested in the top of very tall old oak tree in the corner of our shelter belt. I would sit in the grass near the tree and watch them for hours.
I became so fascinated with them, that I still am
today. The largest Bald Eagle nesting ground is at Land Between the Lakes, near Gilbertsville,KY.
They usually have over 60 pairs every winter. I once had the great pleasure of watching one soar high in the sky over the lake and dive to the water and snatch a fish. The most awesome sight you ever saw. Believe it or, Omaha is right in the middle of the Bald Eagle flyway, and they migrate through here every spring and fall. They have even been seen siting on the tall buildings downtown and on the bridges. Sorry, if I got a little carried away, but I love Bald Eagles, almost as much as what they stand for.
