Proposals include rebates for taxpayers, possible taxes on oil-industry profits, and the opening of drilling in the Arctic.
Where do the rebates come from---oh yea---from our taxes so we pay the rebate to ourself-nice
Ok now they tax the oil companies on their profits --- how does that lower the price of gas?--they will just raise the price of gas to cover the taxes.
Opening the drilling of the artic--this is what they want anyway and very little to do with the price at the pump-what does this do-there is plenty of fuel at $3.50 a gallon. I don't see lines at the pumps right now.
I think the oil companies are just pissed that the US is still a dollar a gallon less than europe so they are just ratcheting the price up. Each time they reach our pain level they back off about 1/2 of the latest increase and we feel like we are getting a good deal. Then they go through the cycle again each time ending up higher than the last.
$4.00 is about where they want it to be for now.
