One day I was flying south east of Pleiku near what was called "VC Valley" (if my memory is correct). It was solid low to second canopy Jungle and then I came to a small opening with a water fall, and I said to who ever I was fying with (Probably a Tech Inspector) that it looked like something from "South Pacific" and I'd love to return someday and visit it. In the middle of my tour there was a free fire zone in the valley and the gun platoon was wanting me to test fly fully loaded with ammo so I'd be "like they were" and I told the old man that my SECOND test flight would be fully loaded but damned if I'd bring it back, so I shot up trees and monkeys for a while, till I lost a crew door and came back with a ding in the drive shaft cover just in front of the 42 deg. gear box. (no more fully loaded after that, LOL). Anyway, that little river and clearing looked like something from a Tarzan movie and was one of the prettiest things I saw in SE asia. I think I'd like to go to Thailand etc. but not Nam. I bust some commie bastard in the chops.
