I think Hotel 9 was the one place that bothered everybody. Lots of bad guys with heavy fire power. Jungles and mountains that you never walk out of if you went down. Knowing each time you went there the bad guys were waiting for you.

I remember pulled a team out of there one time right at dusk. Tracers every where. Hovering above the trees for what seemed like hours before we saw their stobe light. Got the ropes from the McQuire rig tangled in the trees a couple of times before we got the team hooked up. Finally pulled them out and made that slow flight back to Kontum with them swinging below the ship. All the while watching the twenty minute fuel light that had been on since we crossed back into Vietnam.

The only good thing about FOB II that I remember was the steak fry that they had once a week and playing football in their compound. The rest pretty much sucked.
