The first time I saw milk in the mess hall was June 1968. It showed up about the same time that they started giving us the oatmeal with the raisins in it. I think they put the raisins in the stuff so we couldn't tell the difference between them and the flies.

Sometimes it was safer flying into a hot LZ then going to the mess hall.
