"The Price Of Freedom" A poem for heroes

Rockets roar, lives lost.
How much more could freedom cost?
The smell of Napalm lingers in the trees,
No one could imagine the hell they've seen.
Agent Orange defoliates the shrubbery and our soldiers, Sleeping with eyes open and looking over shoulders.
Bullets buzz, choppers rumble.
Help Lady Liberty should she stumble.
Medicine, water, ammunition, and men running low, The next day gives birth to yet another horror show.
Mothers, Fathers, siblings, and children could only pray, For when their heros would come home, no one could really say.
This is the price of freedom they had to pay,
Which only leaves one last thing to say.
Thank you Veterans for paying this tremendous price, For I would not be free without your sacrifice.

Dedicated to my daddy and hero:
Randel H. Lewis (Louie)
