Sometime in '67 I got put on a detail to take some laborers outside the fence to dig some sod for placement somewhere. I laid out what I wanted cut and then relaxed while they spent the morning cutting and loading sod into wheelbarrows. When they had finished, the letters F T A stood out in that red Pleiku soil outside the fence toward the end of a runway. As punishment, I had to paint the concrete flagpole base and missed the Bob Hope Show. I'm wondering if anyone remembers seeing the F T A?
