Why? He should have known he'd be caught. Politicians will say and do damned near anything to get elected. Thanks Goodness for Jug Burkett and other's like him who watch this sort of thing.
He should be glad he missed the dance... and should be honest that he was a "Vietnam Era" Vet. Hell a lot of draftees did not go. Nothing to be ashamed of... but lying is!
