Re: Vets Day at The Wall

: ps-
: got Joe in Philly today. He's planning for
: November, at least for a day or two.

Lumpy, you got any news for me?

Any success with other local guys for early names? If you have contact info, I'd be happy to try to chase some down.

To repeat my previous:

The name readings for the 25th Anniversary of The Wall will start Wednesday afternoon and go through Midnight, then proceed from 5AM to Midnight on Thurs, Fri, and Sat.

It is time to start building a firm roster of readers, so it would be good if everyone interested would check in and/or confirm with me what they would like to do. Please let me know your preferences for specific names, groups of names, or days and times you will be available to help out.

As one of the earliest units to arrive in Vietnam, we have 9 groups of names from 1962 to 1966 to read on Wednesday; 7 groups from late 1966 to early 1968 on Thurday; 2 readings in 1968 and 1969 on Friday; and finally 7 groups from 1969 and 1970 on Saturday. We will probably need help from 119th vets local to The Wall to read many of the early groups on Wednesday and Thursday.

I have anyone who has already requested to read specific names still on file. To be safe, it would be good if you would please confirm with me that you are still on track to attend and read.

I have not heard of any other unit doing what we are doing, attempting to read all of its own names. To keep faith as we are with our fallen friends and relatives is something too special for me to put into words. If you (and I include family members in this) can possibly participate in this project with us, please do. It will be an experience you will never forget.

Thanks,
Bob Kilpatrick
